This picture shows how the stock right hand brake line is routed and the stock motor mounts. First remove the stock motor mounts from the frame. We will not be using these. The brake line routing is a problem. The new LS1 motor mounts will mount further back where the brake line is routed.
With the motor mounts installed the brake line can be re-routed. If you are careful you can bend the existing lines to fit. Be sure to not kink the line closed. If you do kink the line is not usable. You can reuse the existing brake line clamps by bolting them directly to the motor mount frame bolts.
We decided not to reuse the orgianl brake setup. We chose to go with the BAER 13" Track system up front. We got 13" crossed drilled and slotted rotors, aluminum calipers powered coated red with the BAER logo. We retain the stock master cylinder and proportioning valve.
Out back we decided to retain the factory 2000 WS6 brakes. We upgraded the rotors to match the front rotors and had the stock rear caliper powder coated red as well. Since we installed the rearend out of our donor car we had to make a few modifications.
The e-brake setup is different on the 98-02 Fbodys. The 3rd gen e-brake cable mounting will not accomodate the 98-02 e-brake cables. You must remove the 3rd gen e-brake cable plate from the floor of the car and replace it with the 98-02 style plate.
